Shepparton and Wondonga World Cup Shows!!

Well what a month it has been!! The GHP team set off in early November for the Shepparton World Cup Show, the arena looked great and the courses built by David Sheppard were very good all weekend. El Bandit the 5yo El Bundy gelding was our first starter on the run he jumped double clean in the 1.20m just not quick enough for a ribbon. Airtime Z placed in all of his classes for the entire run, including 3rd in the Futurity at Shepparton. Eternal Flame placed in both the futurty and the C grade Championships along with GH Enzo jumping clean all weekend.

GH Eternal Flame and Olivia in the World Cup

Wodonga World Cup as usual was great fun and great jumping! The prestigeous Betty McVean Memorial was won by Tom McDermott unfortunately Olivia and Nero jumped one of eight clear rounds however Nero pulled up not quite right after the first round so we did not start him. This being the case we decided to step Eternal Flame up to the World Cup, she had jumped great indoors all show. Leeson Sirett built a good track, everything was easy to get to and the atmosphere was great! Eternal jumped around with just the one down in the middle of the treble in the first round and the same fence came down in the jump off also. We were very happy with this performance, Eternal is just 7yo and will now step back down to the 1.30m. Airtime Z had a 2nd in the 1.25m a 3rd in the B & C Champs and a 6th in the Futurity with Paula aboard. Eternal Flame was also 2n in the B & C Champs and 7th in the Futurity. Levitate finished 6th in the 1.25m speed class and Bucks Bunny, Avion and Enzo jumped nice clean rounds throughout the show. Thanks to Caitlin Collins for her fantastic grooming efforts! Matt Afford for his awesome help to physically shovel a truck load of sawdust into 8 stables and Tom Sedger for flying down for extra support crew. Our horses were in great shape thanks to Barastoc Horse Feeds and Kentucky Equine Research, and we were beautifully dressed by Animo Italia and One Black Horse NZ! Thanks to all our sponsors!

Toowoomba Royal Show

 

The GHP team took 9 horses up to Toowoomba Royal this year. This was only the second major show we have done this year and the horses all did a good job. David Finch and Catherine James once again put on a lovely show, and the surface was great. The first succes of the show for team GHP was El Bandito jumping the only double clean in the 4 & 5year old Barastoc Young Horse Series taking an early lead. Eternal Flame and Airtime Z also jumped double clean in the 6 year old series along with a few others. Nero GHP has kicked off his season with a good start jumping a double clean round in the Grand Prix to finish sixth and also double clean in the A & B A2 to finish 3rd. Paula's young horses Avion and Airtime Z finished 3rd and 5th in the Mini Prix. Tom Sedger and Balmoral Georgio took out fourth in the D Garde. All in all the show was a good step forward and with a few more shows under their belts our horses should be in serious competition mode. Last weekend saw the Glen Haven Team take 16 horses to the Grand Weekend at Nambour. With scorching temperatures of up to 36○C the horses coped exceptionally well with 16/16 finishing the weekend with good results. Paula and the newly imported Artos Z gelding "Airtime Z GHP" were out to impress in the Saturday Night Grand Prix, the 6yo finished 2nd in the class up against some of Australia's top Grand Prix horses. Paula is looking forward to campaigning "Arty" this coming season. "Arty" also finished the show with a 3rd and 4th in his other class. Paula's younger horses GH El Bandito and Alastik GHP jumped nice clear rounds all weekend. Olivia's team of 9 horses also had a great show, Nero took out the Young Rider Championships on the Saturday, and also 8th place in the Grand Prix on Saturday night, then backed up to finish 3rd in Sunday's 1.40m Grand Prix. The mascot of our Team Bucks Bunny won the 1.25m class on the first day and GH Eternal Flame finished 3rd in the Young Rider Championships on Saturday. The newly imported Caretino/Cassini I colt had his first show and jumped impressively in the smaller classes. Tom Sedger had a good show with Balmoral Georgio jumping Clean in the Young Rider Championships and Figures jumping nicely in the smaller classes. We would like to thank our support crew and sponsor for all their help and also Paul Raymont and his Team at the Sunshine Coast Showjumping Club for their great effort and a fantastic show! Conditions of Entry

 4 & 5 Year olds must be no older than 5 as from 1st of August 2010

 6 Year Olds must be no more than 6 as from the 1st of August 2010

 Top 15 plus equal point scorers will qualify for the Finals

 2 points will be award to horses that jump double clear in the qualifiers, and 1 point for first round clears only.

 Please note:- there will be no time faults on the qualifying rounds

 Entry Fee for each qualifying round is $20.

 $400 will be shared between all double clear rounds.

In 2011 the Barastoc Young Showjumping Horse of the Year competition will consist of two categories and double the money. The aim of the series is to showcase our up and coming quality young showjumping horses. Focusing on consistency of jumping technique and travel between the fences, without the added pressure of jumping against the clock. Show dates, category information and prizemoney will be featured here soon.
