Congratulations Gatineau, Pearl Monarch & Midnight Mist

Team Singapore horse, Gatineau, (with Olivia in the saddle) made everyone very proud last Sunday at the Nambour Grand Weekend Show, by winning the 1.20m Championship! Gatineau jumped superbly in open company and we were all thrilled when he won the class and received a lovely blue sash and a trophy rug. All the attending Singapore horses jumped really well with at worst 4 faults in their various classes. Pearl Monarch was placed 5th in the Junior with Olivia (Pearl is a relatively small horse but she has a huge heart!) and Midnight Mist was 7th (out of a huge field) in the 1.10m with Emma. Olivia was also placed 3rd in the Junior on her horse, Randlab Nero. Overall, it was a great show for Glen Haven Park and the Team Singapore horses!

Hay Time!

With so many horses at Glen Haven Park, it's essential that we buy our high quality hay in bulk! Currently we go through over 25 bales of hay a day - that's a lot of hay. Last Friday saw David picking up yet another huge semi load (although apparently the truck can carry even more hay than what's pictured). Once David arrived the really fun job of unloading began. Every able bodied male at Glen Haven Park pitched in and the hay was soon safely stored in the shed ready for feeding out (the ladies had other important tasks to attend to - that's our story anyway - someone had to take the pictures!)

December Team Member of the Month - Samantha Hesketh

With all the excitement of shows in December, then Christmas and New Year, January was here before we knew it and we still hadn't presented Team Member of the Month for December! As usual all our dedicated riders and grooms have been working very hard, to ensure the care and training of Team Singapore horses is their number one concern in life. However, in December, Sam Hesketh really stepped up and was unanimously voted the Glen Haven Park Team Member of the Month. Sam is a quiet achiever and since arriving with us in September (from the cool and misty land of Wales, UK) she has worked methodically and tirelessly at caring for the horses and improving her grooming skills. For Sam to be so outstanding in December is a double achievement for her, not only did she go about all tasks efficiently and effectively, as well as showing considerable initiative on several occasions, but she did so during one of the hottest Decembers ever experienced in South East Queensland! Sam -being from cooler climes - on first experiencing an Australian summer, was shocked by the heat and had never felt such temperatures, however, she not only continued to work through the steamy weather but managed to excel. Big congratulations to Sam on being voted the December Team Member of the Month!!

As well as the Team Member of the Month Certificate, Sam was presented with a framed photo of herself, with one of her favourite Team Singapore horses, Van Diemen (Archie)

It's 2010 and 38 Singapore Horses are Here!

2010 - The year of the first ever Youth Olympic Games - is here! Everyone is very excited to have all 38 of the Singapore horses at Glen Haven Park and in training, with the latest arrivals moving into the program in late December 2009. Check out the Singapore Youth Olympics page of our website for pictures and details of the horses on the team. Now all the horses have been purchased and settled in, the main focus is on their training, in readiness for the big event in August!
